Author : Arthur Conan Doyle
Detail :

The Hound of the Baskervilles is the third novel by Arthur Conan Doyle, with Sherlock Holmes as the protagonist. Also, one of the most famous detective stories. The Strand Magazine published the book by installments between 1901 and 1902.

Conan Doyle wrote this story shortly after returning from South Africa. There he works at The Langman Field Hospital as a volunteer doctor.

The novel develops at the end of the 19th century in England, in the Dartmoor region. The Baskerville family has a curse, according to a family document of 1742. During the English Civil War, a mysterious dog attacked and killed the drunk Sir Hugo Baskerville in the wasteland. Since then, according to legend, a monstrous, howling dog has lived around the moors that surround the family home.
