Crime and Punishment is the first great novel by the Russian writer Fyodor Dostoevsky. And in 1866, it was published for the first time. In the beginning, The Russian Messenger published the story in 12 monthly installments, and later, it was released as a book in a single volume.

Russian literature considered the book one of the most influential international novels. The novel Crime and Punishment contains six parts plus the epilogue.

Since 1909 there have been several cinematographic works based on this book.
