Frankenstein, or The Modern Prometheus is a novel by the English author Mary Shelley. In 1818, the first publication of the book was issued. It tells the story of Victor Frankenstein, a student from Ingolstadt University, and there he creates an artificial human being.

The story's narrative is through a mixture of epistolary novel and classic tale in the first person. The book pretends to warn the readers about the idea of the human being becoming God. And to create living matter. Besides, it deals with themes like objective morality and the destruction of life.
