Madame Bovary is a novel by Gustave Flaubert. He is a writer of literary realism and one of the most influential in his country because of the realistic narrative style of his books.

The novel was published in parts in La Revue de Paris from October 1, 1856, until December 15 of the same year. In 1857, Levy Freres in Paris announced the complete novel in book form.

The novel received many criticisms for "violating morals," among other things. Also, they accused Flaubert of "glorifying adultery." After all, Flaubert was acquitted during a trial.
