Pollyanna is a children's book published in 1913 by Eleanor Hodgman Porter's US author. The book was a success in days and added a new term to the English language dictionary. Since then, Pollyanna has been used to describe a person who is optimistic in an exaggerated way.

In 1915, Eleanor H. Porter published the sequel of this novel, called Pollyanna Grows Up. And it was also very successful. Pollyanna and its sequel are still favorite classics of American children's literature.
